Hip Hops Abs is all the rage and it’s only proper: it’s cheap, convenient, and crazy cool!

Hip Hop Abs is a home video workout that targets your abs. Fitness instructor and dance choreographer Shaun Thompson will give you a complete dance workout that’ll get you a flatter midsection in no time.
What’s great about Hip Hop Abs is that it allows you to exercise at any time convenient for you. You don’t have to pay for gym membership, pack a bulky gym bag, or pick out the perfect workout outfit; you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home!
The routines are easy to follow, plus the music and the beat will keep you going even if you’re already feeling your muscles burning — which can only mean your work is paying off!
Here’s a sneak preview of what to expect from the Hip Hop Abs video:
Bounce: off to a great start!
Hip Hop Abs is broken down into sets of routines in four DVDs.
Everybody must begin with the first routine, Secret to Flat Abs, a great 13-minute starter using three basic steps which make up the foundation of the entire program: Tilt, Tuck, and Tighten. Shaun will then give you a dance warm-up with the Basic Bounce and the Party Bounce. Next, you’ll be on your hands and knees or hands and toes for the Plank, which might look difficult and intimidating on the video but is actually quite easy compared to doing sit-ups. The Secrets to Flat Abs DVD ends with the “C” Sit, which is similar to crunches but easier on the back.
Party moves
The second DVD is the 30-minute Fat Burning Cardio which begins with a great warm-up, followed by exercise routines that look and feel like dance moves. Starting off with the Party Bounce Combo, you’ll be “pumping it up” with more tilting, tucking, and tightening mixed in with the dancing. The Night Fever Combo will have you working your arms and stepping side to side while keeping your abs nice and tight. Plus, get really good exercise for your upper back and abs with the Get Busy Combo, where you’ll be moving your arms in a circular motion. Before Cool-Down, the final combo will you lots of legwork.
Twist and shout
Ab Sculpt is a 25-minute workout which includes Flava-Jam, a routine with more tilting and tightening along with bouncing and lots of leg bending. The “3T” Groove, on the other hand, will get you twisting and punching while tucking in your abs. the option of bringing weights into the routine is introduced, but you can do the workout without them. Similar to sit-ups and crunches are “C” Twists, “C” Flava, and Bow and Arrow. The latter are just as effective but, since they’re easier on the back, you’ll be able to do more. Ab Sculpt ends with the Cool-Down Stretch where you get to cool down on the floor.
Burn, baby, burn
Finally, the fourth DVD is a 41-minute full-body workout called Total Body Burn. Further tightening your abdominal muscles are squats, arm stretches, and the Overhead Press which allows you to use weights again, combined with heel taps and bending.
Also in the DVD are the Cardio Burn, which will help tone your biceps and triceps, and the Core Groove, which includes push-ups, leg raises, and “C” twists that’ll bring you back on the floor. Ending the Total Body Burn workout is the Cool-Down Stretch.
Work it, work it, work it
Hip Hop Abs also has extras such as the 24-minute Hips, Buns and Thighs featuring basic squats, lunges and side leg raises — with a twist. More bonuses are hip-hop dance routines that will “rev up your metabolism” and have you burning more claories.
No matter how engaging the DVDs are, it’s best to mix and match cardio and sculpting and work with just a couple routines a day. Don’t overwork!
Now there are no more excuses. Dance your way to a great bod all-year round with Hip Hop Abs!
